The Honorable Robert Wollheim

The Honorable Robert Wollheim has been a Judge of the Oregon Court of Appeals since 1998. Judge Wollheim

  • has been the Presiding Judge of the Court of Appeals Motions Panel since December 2006;
  • has served on the Commission on Judicial Fitness & Disability since February 2006, and was chair of the Commission from April 2010, to December 2010;
  • was chair of the Oregon Judicial Department's Access to Justice for All Committee from January 2001 through December 2006, and was a member of the Committee from April 2000 through December 2006;
  • was a member of the Oregon Judicial Department's Fee Waiver/Deferral Work Group from October 2004 through October 2005;
  • was chair of the Oregon Judicial Department's Appeals Board from July 1999 through June 2005;
  • has been a member of the Oregon Appellate Judges Association since 1998, and was president from October 2008 to October 2009.


Judge Wollheim is a member of the Oregon State Bar, Marion County Bar Association, Multnomah Bar Association, Oregon Women Lawyers, Oregon Minority Lawyers Association, the Ninth Circuit and the District Court of Oregon. Both the Oregon State Bar and the Multnomah Bar Association awarded Judge Wollheim Awards of Merit in 1997 and 1998 in recognition of his contributions to the legal profession. In 2007, the World Arts Foundation, Inc., awarded Judge Wollheim a "Keep Alive the Dream" Lifetime Achievement Award for his community contributions and service honoring the legacy of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, Judge Wollheim graduated from Fenger High School. He graduated from Portland State University (B.S. 1979), and Lewis and Clark Law School (J.D. 1983). Before becoming a judge, Judge Wollheim clerked for the Court of Appeals from 1983 to 1984 and practiced law with Welch, Bruun, Green & Wollheim from 1984 to 1998.
