Audio and Written Transcript Requests

Upon request Court staff will provide copies of non confidential recorded court proceedings. Jackson County Circuit Court records proceedings digitally on compact disc (CD) media.  To listen to the audio recorded on CD, you will need a personal computer with a sound card and speakers.  In addition, a software application called FTR Player Plus needs to be installed on the computer. This software is free and can be downloaded by clicking on the button below.

How do I make a request for an Audio Copy?

  1. Submit an Audio Copy Request Form. Click to download the form. The forms may be sent in the mail, handed in at the jury window, or faxed to the court for an additional fee. (fees listed below)
  2. Call in your request to the court at 541.776.7171 ext 191 .  When a request is called in a staff member will ask the questions listed on the Audio Copy Request Form.
  3. In person request, after court hearing.  Fill out an Audio Copy Request Form at the Jury window on the 1st floor of the Justice Building. 

How do I make a request for a Written Transcript?

  1. Submit a Written Transcript Request Form. Click to download the form. The forms may be sent in the mail, handed in at the jury window, or faxed to the court for an additional fee. (fees listed below)
  2. Transcript Coordinator will assign your request to an outside transcriber. The outside transcriber will then contact you to provide an estimate of cost and time to prepare the transcript. A $10 fee per tape or CD must be paid to create the CD(s) which is sent to the transcriber.

What are the fees for Audio Copies and when are they due?

  • $10.00 per tape or compact disc (CD);
  • All fees must be paid in full before the copies will be made.
  • For Credit Card payments, call 541.776.7171 ext 587 (Accounting Department).

What are the fees for Written Transcripts and when are they due?

  • $10.00 per CD is due immediately to create a CD(s) which is sent to the transcriber.
  • Payment for the written documents is made to the outside transcriber.
  • Usually between $3.00 and $3.50 per page, and it works out to approximately one page per minute of hearing time.
  • The outside transcriber will let you know when the fee is due.

When will I receive my audio request?

  • Normal turn around time is five (5) working days, from the time the Transcript Coordinator receives your request to when it is forwarded to a transcriber to be typewritten.
  • Transcripts may take several days to several weeks to complete, depending on the complexity or length of the hearing or trial.
  • You may request that your transcript be expedited, but the transcriber will charge you a higher amount per page.
