Who is my court appointed attorney?

To find out the name of your court appointed attorney, you can either come into the Lane County Courthouse and look up your file, or you can call the Circuit Court Information Booth at (541) 682-4020.

 

Can I change my court date?

Only certain types of court appearances can be changed.  Please contact the Circuit Court Information Booth at (541) 682-4020 or your lawyer to find out if you will be able to change your court date.

 

When is my next court date?

Please contact the Circuit Court Information Booth at (541) 682-4020 to find out when your next court date is scheduled.

 

I missed my court date, what should I do?

Come to the Circuit Court Information Booth Monday - Friday at 8:00 a.m. to reschedule your appearance and to clear any warrants that might be outstanding for your arrest.

 

Do I have to appear at the show cause hearing?

Yes, you do. If you fail to appear in Court as required, a warrant for your arrest will be issued and you may be arrested and punished by jail and/or a fine.

 

Do I have to appear to clear my warrant?

Yes. Come to the Circuit Court Information Booth Monday - Friday at 8:00 a.m. to schedule an appearance that morning before a judge.

 

How can I talk to the judge that sentenced me (or another judge)?

You may contact any judge by mail at: Lane County Circuit Court, 125 E. 8 th Avenue, Eugene, OR 97401.

 

I posted bail/security money.  When will I be getting my money back?

You will get your security money back when the defendant is sentenced or when the case is dismissed. Remember that when you paid security, you signed a release that states that the court automatically keeps 15% of the deposit posted for administrative release costs, and the court may order that the remainder of the deposit be applied toward payment of any fines, costs, assessments, restitution, attorney fees or other financial obligations imposed in this case or any case in Lane County Circuit Court in which the defendant owes money.

 

How do I update my address with the courts?

Write a letter with your current address and phone number to: Lane County Circuit Court, 125 E. 8 th Avenue, Eugene, OR 97401.

 

I am a victim in a case. When will I receive my restitution money?

The court sends restitution money to the victim as the defendant pays. You can call the Circuit Court Information Booth at (541) 682-4020 to find out more about restitution that is owed to you.

 

Where can unrepresented defendants do research about how to file motions?

You may do legal research at the Lane County Law Library, located in the basement of the Courthouse.
