Mediation

The Polk County Parent Education Program and Mediation Orientation is a program offered to help keep court costs down and prvide litigants with a way to resolve disputes and come to an agreement in domestic relations cases.

Attendance at the Polk County class is mandatory.  The class focuses mostly on the impact divorce has on children at various stages.  The class location is the Polk County Courthouse on the first floor of the main building, in the first floor conference room.  Two mediators instruct each class on a rotation.

Mediation sessions begin only after the parties have attended the class and have agreed upon and scheduled an appointment with a mediator.  If custody and/or parenting time are not at issue and mediation is not appropriate, paper work must be submitted to WAIVE mediation.

If you live outside the state, please contact the mediation coordinators,
