Oregon Supreme Court School and Community Outreach

Although the Oregon Supreme Court is located in Salem, the justices have a long-standing practice of traveling around the state several times a year to hear oral arguments and talk with students and community groups about the Court's work and Oregon's justice system. Making the appellate process more accessible both enhances Oregonians' understanding of the role that courts play in administering our civil and criminal laws and improve citizens' access to justice.

The Supreme Court has visited the following cities to hear arguments in high schools, colleges, and other venues:

When traveling outside Salem, the Court often arranges to meet with local community and service groups, bar associations, and public officials, usually over lunch or dinner. And the Court usually has question-and-answer sessions with students after the oral arguments. The Court finds these interactive sessions to be the highlight of the trips.
