About ORAPs
The Oregon Rules of Appellate Procedure (ORAP) govern practice and procedure before the Oregon Supreme Court and the Oregon Court of Appeals. The courts have jointly adopted those rules pursuant to statute. See
ORS 2.120 (Supreme Court);
ORS 2.560(2) (Court of Appeals).
The Chief Justice and the Chief Judge also have authority to promulgate temporary amendments to the rules. Those temporary amendments expire unless subsequently adopted through the ORAP Committee process.
For information about how ORAP amendments are proposed and adopted, see information about the ORAP Committee here. To suggest a proposed amendment, see the
contact information for the committee here. Committee meetings are public; for information about the meetings, including agenda, minutes, and how to attend, see here.
