What to Expect

Entering the Courthouse (Courthouse Access)

An airport-type security metal and image scanner station is located at the entrance to the Benton County Courthouse. Purses, backpacks, briefcases, etc. will be searched.  It is a Class C felony for any person to intentionally possess a weapon in a court facility (ORS 166.370). Other than single use water bottles, all other hard sided containers are prohibited.

Access for visitors with disabilities is on the 5th Street side of the courthouse at the basement level. Upon entry, you will be directed to the elevator and security station for screening.

Scrolling Docket Screens

Immediately after passing through the security screening station, a large docket screen monitor shows cases to be heard that day and their specific courtroom location. Confidential matters will not appear. It is possible that the courtroom listed on your notice of appearance might have changed since the notice was mailed, so always check the docket screen monitor to verify the correct courtroom before proceeding.

If the case you are looking for does not appear on the docket screen and is not a confidential matter, please refer to the following staff for assistance:
  • Room 101 for Small Claims, Landlord Tenant/FED (Eviction), or Domestic Relations cases
  • Room 104 for Criminal or Violations cases
  • Room 106 for Civil or Juvenile cases
Outside Courtrooms 1, 2 and 4 are smaller docket screen monitors showing that day’s cases for each specific courtroom with the exception of confidential matters. Courtroom 4 is located on the first floor. Courtrooms 1, 2, and 3 are on the second floor.
