Family Law

Local Rule 8.013 requires all parties in cases which minor children are involved in a domestic relations case to attend a Court approved parenting class as provided in ORS 3.425

The only Court Approved Parent Education Course for Malheur County is the Center for Divorce Education's Children In Between Online co-parenting course.  No other parenting course will be accepted by the Malheur Court in meeting this requirement.  To access the online course click here and follow the tabs to purchase, sign-up, and begin the course.

You are to register for a class no later than fifteen (15) days after the date of filing your petition or response.  The certificate of completion shall be filed with the Court prior to the issuance of the final Judgment of Dissolution or Order on Judgment.

There is a fee associated with the class when you register, payable directly to the Provider of the class. In some situations, the fee may be deferred/waived upon request and qualifications.

In most cases, the court will order child support if you have a child and no child support order already exists. To calculate the expected amount based on Oregon Law, complete the Child Support Calculator. You must attach the completed Child Support Worksheets to your proposed judgment. If the amount of support you are requesting is different from what the calculator or worksheet says, you must explain why and how you reached that amount. For more information about Child Support, see the Oregon State Courts Child Support page.
