If your vehicle was immobilized (booted) or towed because an order to tow was issued for unpaid parking citations, you MUST do the following to get a release for the vehicle:
- Appear in person at the
Multnomah County Central Courthouse; AND
- Be the registered owner; AND
- Have a valid government issued photo ID; AND
- Pay, in full, all outstanding citations with cash, a money order, a cashier’s check or credit/debit card in your name.
You cannot pay for a vehicle release over the phone or online. To see if you are a registered owner of a vehicle contact
Oregon Driver and Motor Vehicles Services. After you have completed the above, the court will give you a release for the vehicle. If needed, the court will then direct you to the tow yard where the car is impounded. The tow company will also charge towing and storage fees. For more information on towing or booting vehicles see
