Transcripts

What is a Transcript?

A transcript is an official copy of what took place in court during a trial or other legal hearing. Most hearings in the Circuit Court are audio recorded, and may later be “transcribed” to a written document, especially if a case is appealed. The recordings of some case types, such as adoptions or juvenile hearings, may not be public records.

Obtaining a Copy of a Transcript

Audio recordings of public court hearings held in the Umatilla or Morrow County Circuit Courts are available for a fee. Written transcripts are not normally part of Circuit Court case files. If you would like a written transcript, you may obtain an audio recording of the proceeding, and then have it transcribed at your own expense. Requests for audio recordings may take 2 – 4 weeks to process and are handled on a first come, first serve basis. Please see the Records Request page for more information.
