COURT APPOINTED COUNSEL FOR RESPONDENTS AND PROTECTED PERSONS
In January 2024 changes to ORS 125.080 will make court appointed counsel for respondents and protected person's mandatory in some protective proceeding cases. Some respondents and protected persons may be eligible for state-funded counsel. As the program rolls out, many circuit court probate judges are seeking attorneys to take on court appointment for these individuals.
