Greater Oregon Facilitation Initiative (GOFI)

We provide information, assistance, and navigation to litigants in family law cases so they can meaningfully participate in the court process. These services are available through our facilitators and shared resource in Benton, Clackamas, Crook, Deschutes, Gilliam, Hood River, Jefferson, Lane, Linn, Marion, Sherman, Union, Wallowa, Wasco, Wheeler Counties.

What Information Can Facilitators Provide?
Our facilitators are not lawyers. Facilitators can help explain court procedures, review forms, and refer to other services and resources. Facilitators cannot give legal advice. GOFI assumes no responsibility for the accuracy or legal effects of the information contained in any written or verbal instructions or forms.

  • Help you find the right forms and understand how to complete them.
  • Explain how court procedures and rules work.
  • Explain how to begin a court action.
  • Refer you to agencies or resources that provide legal services and information.​
  • Review documents and forms to make sure they are complete.

  • ​Recommend one procedure over another.
  • Tell you what you should do or give an opinion about your options.
  • Advise or recommend you take a particular action.
  • Recommend a specific attorney or guess about the outcome of your case.
  • Tell you what to write on a form or what to say in court.

Fee Waiver

Fee Deferral and Waiver Information

Find information and forms about how to ask the court to waiver or defer fees and costs. Fees and costs are required in most civil and family law cases. The court can only defer or waive fees if you are low-income (according to federal poverty guidelines).
