Southern Oregon Facilitation Initiative (SOFI)

We provide information, assistance, and navigation to litigants in family law cases so that they can meaningfully participate in the court process. These services are available through our facilitators and shared resources in Baker, Coos, Curry, Douglas, Grant, Harney, Jackson, Josephine, Klamath, Lake and Malheur Counties.

What Information Can Facilitators Provide?
Our Family Law Facilitators are not attorneys and cannot provide legal advice. SOFI assumes no responsibility for the accuracy or legal effects of the information contained in any written or verbal instructions or forms.

  • Help you find the right forms and understand how to complete them.
  • Explain how court procedures and rules work.
  • Explain how to begin a court action.
  • Refer you to agencies or resources that provide legal services and information.​
  • Review documents and forms to make sure they are complete.

  • ​Recommend one procedure over another.
  • Tell you what you should do or give an opinion about your options.
  • Advise or recommend you take a particular action.
  • Recommend a specific attorney or guess about the outcome of your case.
  • Tell you what to write on a form or what to say in court.

Fee Deferral and Waiver Information
